It’s been another busy couple of weeks! I’ve been writing up a storm and working on finishing up Sunken Kingdom, which you should definitely follow if you aren’t already.
I just sent out the script (version 10) to the very talented person who will be lettering the story. I’m always nervous about this part — it’s pencil’s down, meaning I will not be able to noodle on the script as I have been for the past 2 months.
In other news, check out this awesome logo designed by the exceptionally talented Andriy Lukin, winner of the Mad Cave Studios’ 2022 Talent Search and designer/letterer of a ton of great projects.
I’m so happy with how the logo came out. It’s bold, mysterious, and perfectly fits the cover of issue 1 (which will be revealed pretty soon).
Okay, this is the part where I need a favor from all of you.
I’ve been going back and forth on what project image to choose for the Sunken Kingdom Kickstarter and I need YOUR help! I’d love to pick the image that’s the most eye-catching and makes you want to learn more about the book.
Take a look at the three images and vote in the poll below:

Let me know in the comments if you’d do anything differently or have any other feedback. Whatever you’ve got, I’m all ears.
This week’s horror of my heart:
Into the Drowning Deep
Back when I was writing A Lungful of Brine: Nautical Horror Stories I read a lot of comics and even a novel or two that had to do with horror at sea.
One of my favorites was Into the Deep by Mira Grant, which is, for all intents and purposes, a novel about killer mermaids. But I’d also say it’s a lot more than that.
While the horror aspect was great, what I really loved was the writing and how the author really dove into the headspaces of characters. And from mermaid hunters to professional submersible pilots, there really are a lot of quirky characters in this book.
The book revolves around a scientific cruise ship investigating the Challenger Deep (deepest point in the ocean) and follows Tory Stewart, a young sonar specialist who wants to find out what happened to her sister on a previous, similar voyage.
But of course, corporate conspiracies and killer mermaids complicate things. There’s suspense, there’s drama, and there’s a school of merpeople tearing up the crew.
…what’s not to love?
