23: The Bestiary, Part 1
Read this new medieval horror comic.
I’ve been looking forward to today for the past few months—do you know why? Because today’s the day I get to share the first part of the latest in my medieval horror comics series with you!
Team:
Writer: Dan Tappan
Artist: Christos Pittas
Letterer: Reed-Hinckley-Barnes
Previous Stories:
The first half of the story is below, so I won’t waste your time with too much of a preamble. But here’s a little bit of context.
This story originated from my love of medieval bestiaries, which were religious encyclopedias that interspersed entries of both real and mythological animals. One page a chicken, the next a dragon. For many in the era, it was the only way to see pictures of creatures found across the world. However, most of the drawings were wildly inaccurate as far as anatomy goes.
In this story, a boy and girl discover that the creatures of the wilds are much scarier in real life than in books.
Enjoy!
And that’s part 1. Stay tuned for the twists, turns and shocking conclusion of part 2. Aiming to send in a week or so.
Let me know what you think in the comments!

Love it!
